In the past couple weeks, I have been very busy. Dictation and sight-singing continue to be fun but stressful, and I have a dictation test tomorrow that I'm pretty nervous for. Still working at the bakery on weekends, and really enjoying that since I don't have access to grade A bakery items here in Provo! Preston's farewell is this coming Sunday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. Being busy makes everything speed up.
The benefit concert for the Ukrainian women's shelter was really special. My piece went well, but the best parts were the beautiful venue, worthy cause, and feeling of community among the musicians. I didn't know pictures were taken, but the event's coordinator emailed these to me today!
In other news, over the weekend I contracted a minor case of pink eye... which was awful. Luckily that's mostly gone now, though, and I'm still just contagious enough to infect my enemies if I so choose! Best of both worlds.
Sometimes I feel like I'm developing a stress ulcer from school, it's hard to learn skills like dictation and sight-singing in an 8-week spring semester. I think of those classes as learning to use your voice and ears as an instrument, and that's a really short time frame to learn a new instrument! But overall, I'm settling into BYU life pretty darn well. It's great to be able to come home on the weekends -MOM AND DAD HAVE SO MUCH FOOD-, I still love the pool (so much, in fact, that I think it's inhibiting my friend-making progress), and I'm slowly figuring out how to deal with the little cultural annoyances I was so worried about. People's attitudes or opinions will rub me the wrong way and kind of eat at me until I figure out why they bother me, and then I can usually look past them.
I'm really happy with what I'm doing right now, and I miss you grown-up siblings and in-laws so much! I can't wait to see you all at the wedding this summer.
